DecoloniseWDC is an independent, community campaigning organisation.
Our mission is to tautoko (support) and whakamana (uplift) everyday local Maori and others to act together in powerful and coordinated ways to create: a society, economy and democracy that serves all of us – underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The catalyst to our formation was the racist actions of John Bain, Robin Grieve, Frank Newman, and their local group Democracy Northland, supported by a number of our Whangarei District Councillors to stop Maori representation in local government.
We shall be running a number of campaigns including, register to vote, information about candidates, highlighting current Anti Maori councillors, and any other Anti Maori candidates at our next local body elections.
